Pictures You Don’t See Very Often

_____________________________

I usually try to intersperse word items with visual items and, for the most part, leave the longer reading posts for the weekend. Time constraints also often affect the choice of postings.

Whilst pondering what I would post this time, I received Leo’s email of a collection of interesting photographs, entitled Pictures You Don’t See Very Often.

The pics appear below and meet the title description.

Thanks Leo.

A very large statue of Genghis Khan in Mongolia

Additional comment:

The statue is known as the Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue, part of the Genghis Khan Statue Complex, and is 40 metres (130 ft) tall. It depicts Genghis Khan on horseback and it is located on top of the Genghis Khan Statue Complex, a visitor centre, itself 10 metres (33 ft) tall, with 36 columns representing the 36 khans from Genghis to Ligdan Khan. Another nearby statue showing Genghis Khan in the midst of battle is titled The Wrath of Khan. Nahh, that’s not true, I made that up. Here is another view of the real statue to show size and scale:
